Often deployed to assist crowd dispersal they are a useful alternative to police officers when heavily out numbered

Some vehicles are specially designed with armour plating to withstand petrol bombs, stones, bricks and even bullets etc.

Used to show strength and presence, but importantly can assist in the front line

Riot police can also use the protection of specially designed vehicles to rest and regroup
