This bag has been designed with two groups of providers in mind – paramedics and doctors. It has been 18 months in the development phase and has just been released for sale in the UK. Pre-Hospital Care UK are delighted to be the first to formally test and review this bag.

Appearance & Carrying
Available in red and green it’s a smart looking bag. The front and side pockets are covered with a highly visible fluorescent yellow strip with central reflective gray band, clearly defining it as a medical bag.
It can be carried three main ways: as a backpack or shoulder bag, both with adjustable removable straps, or by the carrying handle with velcro closure. The bag is most practically carried over the shoulder or as a backpack.
The base of the bag has a non-detachable padded water resistant base extending to the front pockets.
Interior
The main compartment of the bag is its most exciting feature – a real treasure chest. The inside of the opening flap is fitted with two equally spaced elastic straps which have been designed to hold OP airways, ET tubes, Nasal Airways, Laryngeal masks and even resuscitation drugs. There are a total of 20 slots for items of kit.
Inside the bag is an additional flap attached to the main section which has three equally sized clear zipped pockets on one side and a soft fabric material on the reverse. This allows you to customize the attachment of its velcro pouches. This soft material also covers the floor of the main section. All of the most important pockets are double zipped and can be locked if required
The Modular Backpack comes with a total of 6 assorted zip-up nylon pouches. These vary in size, colour and function. Four of these pouches have been designed for the main section of the bag. These have velcro fixings on the back and a see through front for easy kit identification. Three measure 10 x 28 x 5 cm HLD (x2 blue and x1 red) and 1 smaller red pouch measures 10 x 18 x 5 cm HLD. They are ideal for carrying quick accessible airway, cannulation and dressing kits. No more having to hunt for that all important saline flush. The main compartment is supported by four flat zipped pockets containing foam padding to maintain its shape.
The side pockets are spacious and have been designed to hold the 2 remaining large zip-up pouches. These do not have velcro and have been designed to help you further organize your kit.
To top all of this the front of the bag has three large pockets which can be used for any remaining kit. Zebmed have also designed a two pocket version for those who like the leaner look.
There is also a large thin velcro pocket at the back which can conveniently be used to hold patient report forms.
Value & Verdict
This bag is unique and has been well thought out. It is spacious and few bags on the market can compete with the price. The only criticism is that this bag can look awkward to carry when all three front pockets are full, however, this is reduced in the leaner two pocket version. Therefore if you are looking for an affordable bag to do the job and carry the kit, this is a great bag to consider.
