Zebmed Paramedic Supplies - Advance Holdall
The Advance Holdall was officially reviewed in Issue 1 of our magazine. Here is what we thought of it...
Great bag for Pre-Hospital Care Providers !
If you are looking for a kit bag, the advance holdall is an attractive option. The strong features about this bag are its good looks and competitive price.
The Advance holdall measures 48 x 34 x 32 cm and is made of 600D highly durable nylon. It comes in two standard colours, red and green. I personally prefer the red as its vibrant colour gets it noticed.
The outside of the holdall is covered with 5 highly visible reflective yellow strips located on the top, sides and back – helping it stand out in poor lighting. It can be carried three main ways: the carry handle with velcro closing, the single large shoulder strap, or as a backpack (with the two smaller shoulder straps contained in the back pocket). Although useful alternatives, it is much more practical to use the carry handles.
The holdall comes standard with a removable base for easy cleaning, and is fitted with four small plastic studded areas to give greater grip. The zips are heavy duty and fitted with fluorescent orange ‘zipper pulls’ making them simple to open quickly. There is also the option for the zips to be locked with a small pad lock if required.
The holdall has one main compartment and a number of additional pockets. The main compartment is large and comes with four removable cells making it easy to fit equipment of variable sizes. The front pocket is also spacious and fitted with a number of standard smaller compartments and elastics to secure boxed drugs for emergency use. The two side pockets will easily store the smaller items of kit, such as syringes and airways adjuncts. The top pocket is also a good size, but is not fitted with any compartments. On the very top of the holdall there is a small clear plastic pocket with a velcro tag which can be used to keep gloves, or ID. There is a large thin pocket at the back of the holdall which contains the two shoulder straps and this can be used for carrying small notebooks or papers.
The main criticisms of this holdall are that it is too small to carry a D-size oxygen, and although it accommodates resuscitation drugs, it is not specifically designed to safely carry glass vile drugs. There is also no means for labelling the front of the bag, which can be useful to clearly identify personnel or the service they represent. However, all in all, a great grab bag for the basic or advanced Pre-Hospital Care Provider, and good value for money.
