Appearance & Carrying
The two classic standard colours, green and red, will really get your bag noticed! There is also a blue first aid logo embroidered on the front opening flap. The outside of the bag is covered with a white reflective strip (5cm in width) which runs along the bottom half, on three sides of the bag. This gives it a dynamic look and makes it clearly visible at night.
The bag can be carried two main ways, either by using the flexible rubber handle on the top of the bag or by the (removable) adjustable shoulder strap. The shoulder strap is of sturdy design and the most practice way to carry this bag.
Interior
The main section of the bag is covered by an opening flap, fastened by an inside velcro strip and two outer adjustable plastic clips. On the inside of the opening flap, close to the main body of the bag is an elastic strap divided into six sections designed to hold easily accessible items of kit. At the base there’s a zippered pocket extending under the flap.
The body of the bag consists of a large central compartment partially covered by two smaller internal flaps of material attached to the sides. These provide added protection for your kit. The main section of the bag is fitted with a padded removable foam divider which is attached to the base with strong velcro. The divider splits the bag in half (length ways) and further divides one of pockets into two quarter sized compartments.
At the front are two smaller unzipped pockets. Each pocket has an elastic strap at the top which is divided into 3 sections for securing equipment, adding to the general functionality of the bag. The two side pockets are also well sized and are secured with heavy duty zips. These are fitted with fluorescent orange reflective toggles for easy access.
At the rear of the bag is a large thin see through pocket, which is perfect for storing guidelines or other paper work. It is secured with a zip and a real bonus feature for those who like helpful reminders when dealing with difficult cases. You don’t even need to open the bag!
The base of the bag is fitted with four plastic studs located at each corner. These help protect it in wet weather but do not provide the same protection as a removal plastic base would.
Value & Verdict
This is a fantastic bag, great value for money and well thought out. The only criticism is that the base could be better protected, however this is not very significant point. The Assist First Aid Bag is one of the most competitive bags on the market in its range.
